To spice up the ol' bio, I found some fun human-centric facts about blue whales!
Dan is currently the face of the KBB.com Nat'l Campaign, and will be in the brand new animated series Triptank on Comedy Central, from the producers of Robot Chicken. He most recently starred opposite Ellen Pompeo on Grey's Anatomy.
"A blue whale's heart is so big, a small child can swim through the veins." This fact is overshadowed by its disturbing image.
Dan Gordon is an actor, voiceover artist, and comedian in Los Angeles, where he works daily to become a full-time cartoon character and regular on your living room television and/or laptop.
Dan is a proud member of Pro ADR Looping with Debi Derryberry and a founding member of Brimmer Street Theatre Company.
"The spray from a blue whale's blowhole is almost as tall as a three-story building, and a toddler can fit into its blowhole." And kill the whale.
From outside Philadelphia, Dan Gordon started his acting career at the age of nine, performing in school plays and the international creative competition, Odyssey of the Mind. At Pennsbury High School, Dan performed one-man plays in the National Forensics League and was awarded "Best Play" for his production of Mere Mortals at the New Hope Student Theater Festival.
"100 people could fit into the mouth of a blue whale." Cool! But also kinda sounds like a reckless party suggestion.
At Emerson College, Dan performed sketch comedy with the EVVY Award-winning Jimmy's Traveling All-Stars and graduated with a bachelor of the arts in acting and theatre education.
He studied long-form improv comedy at Upright Citizens Brigade in NYC and, after moving to Los Angeles in 2005, continued studying improv at UCB LA and I.O. West.
"A blue whale's heart is the size of a Mini Cooper and a human can easily crawl through its major arteries." Point made at Mini Cooper. And the use of "easily" makes this fact very unsettling.
With a tight collective of fellow Emersonians in LA, Dan co-founded the ensemble-based Brimmer Street Theatre Company in 2006. The company lives in the Silverlake/Hollywood area and produces original plays that excite and engage.
Arlene Thornton & Associates started representing Dan commercially in 2007 and, then also for voiceover in 2008. Arlene and her savvy team have been a continual source of support and invaluable guidance. Theatrically, Dan is repped by the sweet-as-pie Jaime Ferrar Agency and managed by I'll-sleep-when-I'm-dead Steven Buchsbaum at Ad Astra Management.
"Blue whales cruise the ocean at more than five miles an hour, but accelerate to more than 20 miles an hour when they are agitated." And more than 25 mph when angst-ridden.
The Linklater Method voice technique has had a tremendous impact on Dan's work since being introduced to it in 2002. In the summer of 2013, Dan was a super psyched-participant in The Stromboli Project, an exclusive month-long Linklater intensive in Italy led by the incredible Susan Main, Alessandro Fabrizi, and Natsuko Ohama.
TV/Film/Digital appearances include: Grey's Anatomy; Scandal; Comedy Central's Trip Tank (voice); TBS' 10 Dates From Hell; The Olivia Experiment (indie feature); PBS' State of The Arts (voice); Disneyland Adventures (XBox); Ratchet & Clank (PS3); Skylanders Giants (PS3).
